A persistent high pressure ridge (seen below on the European model) will dominate the Pacific Northwest over the next week.
This ridge will deflect weather systems from the region, allowing there to be relatively few clouds, mostly sunny days, and chilly nights.
Below is the European model forecast for lows on Saturday morning.
Lows in Western Washington will drop to the low to mid 30s, and in Eastern Washington, it will be much colder, in the upper teens to upper 20s. Some areas in the mountains will be even colder.
Daily highs will be reflective of Saturday’s highs (below) on the European model.
In the lowlands, highs will reach the mid to upper 40s, with some areas reaching the low 50s. Eastern Washington will reach the mid 30s to low 40s.
The extended forecast outlooks are below, from the NWS Climate Prediction Center.
First is the temperature outlook for November 17-21.
The entire Western US is below average, with most of Washington in a 33-60% probability of below average temperatures.
Next is the precipitation outlook, also for November 17-21.
The CPC outlook shows a 40-50% probability of below average precipitation through the 21st.
A potential for a pattern change exists for the week of Thanksgiving. Stay tuned (and stay warm)!
