An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for the Puget Sound Lowlands, in effect from 10 AM to 9 PM on Sunday. The alert is below or you can click HERE.
————————————————————————————————————
As of Thursday morning, dangerous and significant heat is still likely this Sunday, and hot temperatures are likely on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday.
Let’s take a look at what we’re expecting. The Puyallup forecast from weather.com is scary.
100 DEGREES?!? Yes, it’s possible. While Sunday will is by far the hottest day, temperatures of 87-90 degrees are still likely on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday.
Remember to subtract a couple degrees outside of the valley AND near Puget Sound. An important aspect of this heat wave is that temperatures south of Seattle and away from Puget Sound will be much warmer (by 2-5 degrees) than near water and up north.
At this time (Thursday morning) no heat alerts have been issued. I expect that to change by Sunday.
While 100 degrees isn’t a certain temperature, it is definitely possible. Take a look at these forecasts below. I have gathered the Sunday high temperatures for Puyallup from 8 different sources.

Bottom line: It will be very hot. The average high is 98 degrees. The “lowest” temperature listed is 96 degrees. Again...remember that temperatures above 85 degrees are likely Saturday through Tuesday. This is a prolonged heat event, not just one hot day.
