Rain Returns on Thursday

It has been dry for nearly three weeks in Western Washington! We have enjoyed lots of sunny and warm weather, with nice breaks of clouds in between our warm stretches.

However...that is about to change. Thursday brings a chance of rain for Western Washington. Let's take a look at the high-resolution UW forecast model, showing expected precipitation for the next 48 hours.

It is most likely that we will receive 0.01-0.15 inches of rain. Not much, but a nice refresher after nearly 3 weeks without rain. Much more rain on the coast and north of Everett, with over a half inch possible. That's a lot for August.

Temperatures on Thursday will barely reach 70 degrees. We will slowly rebound with clouds and sun through the weekend. Looks like we will reach near 80 degrees again on Monday.

While this little bit of rain on Thursday may seem insignificant, take a look at this tweet from local meteorologist Joe Zagrodnik.

Bottom line: We are now heading towards autumn. Temperatures will gradually get cooler as we draw closer to September and October.

Also...I will end with this. There is an increasing chance of La Nina this winter, which means cooler temperatures, more rain, and possibly increased snow...
