Sunday marked the first day of summer and the longest day of the year, known as “Summer Solstice.” Our area had approximately 15 hours and 56 minutes of daylight. This year, the longest days of the year will also be some of the warmest, as we will see below.
Below are Sunday’s high temperatures.
Monday will be about 10 degrees warmer at most locations, as seen in the Puyallup forecast below. (From Weather Underground).
Expect highs of 87 to 92 degrees on Monday. Take a couple degrees off the forecast if you’re outside the valley or near the water. These will be the warmest temperatures of the year (until we get warmer again at the end of the week).
We will get some “relief” with temperatures back down to the upper 70s to low 80s from Tuesday through Thursday.
Then, heat will build again. From Friday through Monday, temperatures will be the hottest of the year, along with the warmest low temperatures of the year. Below is Puyallup’s extended forecast.
While details and exact temperatures will vary, the hottest days will be Friday through Sunday. Expect highs of 87 to 95 degrees, possibly higher on these days. Low temperatures of 60 to 65 degrees are likely as well, quite warm for Western Washington. Temperatures will decrease to the low to mid 80s to begin next week.
In short…a hot Monday is ahead, with little relief through the week. Then, a second and hotter heat wave is expected to end this week.
